• BONES

    CENTRAL BEARDED DRAGON

My favourite kids question is if bearded dragons breathe fire. I am sure Bones would love to say yes and he would make the cutest dragon however sadly this isn’t true. Bearded dragons get their name from puffing out their throats, which turn black resembling a beard when feeling scared and threatened.

  • BISCUIT

    EASTERN BLUE TONGUE SKINK

Biscuit is just as sweet as her name. I am sure you would have seen many of her wild family just cruising around in gardens looking for snails. She has the coolest blue tongue, which she will use to scare off predators.

  • SNICKERS

    SHINGLEBACK SKINK

Shingleback have many fun nicknames and they have one very distinct physical feature. Some would say this is Snickers party trick. Their tail looks so similar to their head, which helps confuse predators. Their large thick scales are like a body of armour!

  • FLAME

    FRILLED NECK LIZARD

These awesome lizards were named after a very distinctive physical feature. Their beautiful orange coloured frills! They are so cool that there was even a dinosaur in the Jurassic Park movie loosely based around these guys.

  • POPCORN

    ALBINO DARWIN PYTHON

Have you ever seen a prettier snake? Popcorn is a beautiful Albino Darwin Python however you won’t see many of his cousins in the wild due to the lack of camouflage. Where can you hide when you are fluorescent yellow!

  • PEEWEE

    STIMSON PYTHON

Peewee is the refined older gentleman of the family at 15 years of age. He is a beautiful and calm natured Stimson’s Python who is a fan favourite with the little ones! Stimson Pythons are non venomous and only grow up to around 1 metre in length.

  • CHOPPER

    SALTWATER CROCODILE

Meet our baby saltwater crocodile that’s already got a bite that’s bigger than his size! Salties can grow up to 7 meters long, but for now, he’s just working on being the croc of the party. Chopper loves basking in the sun, taking things slow—until it’s time for a snappy selfie! Come get up close and personal with this jaw- some little guy and learn all about the mighty saltwater croc in the making.

  • SOCKS & SCOUT

    SQUIRREL GLIDERS

These two pocket sized possums have their own party trick. They have built in body parachutes and can glide up to 50 metres from tree to tree. Isn’t that amazing! These quick and nimble climbers are nocturnal so are only ever seen at night.

  • TURBO

    MACLEAY TURTLE

This cutie is a Macleay Turtle. They are one of the smallest short neck species of native turtle. Now you won’t see these guys eating pizzas and hanging out in sewers, but they do provide plenty of entertainment chasing around their food.

  • PICKLES

    CENTRALIAN CARPET PYTHON

Pickles is our inquisitive Bredli Python. Now you won’t see his wild cousins here on the Sunshine Coast as his species are found in the southern parts of Northern Territory. They’re a subspecies of the carpet python family, with unique reddish-brown and orange colouring that helps them blend into the rocky desert landscape.

  • WOODY

    WOMA PYTHON

This adorable species of python is one of only two python species in Australia that lack heat sensing pits. This is because woma pythons primarily prey on reptiles, which are cold-blooded and don’t emit the same level of heat as warm-blooded animals. Woody is a beautiful ambassador for his species.

  • TALLOW

    TALLOW

    Tawny Frogmouth

Tallow may look like an owl, but she’s not one at all! Tawny Frogmouths are actually nocturnal birds closely related to nightjars. Tallow is a gentle sweetheart who quickly wins everyone over with her calm nature and big, curious eyes. Her absolute favorite thing in the world? Mealtime! This little foodie loves nothing more than a tasty treat.
